About us

Founded in 2010 by Inês Ludovino and Valter Perdigão, AMPLO is a collaborative based in Lisbon, whose services range from the fields of architecture, urban design, and product design.

We understand that everything we design has a great impact on the way people live, whether on a local or a global scale. Our design process engages collaboratively with our clients to generate the unique qualities that give each project a creative solution.

Founders

Valter Perdigão, co-founding partner of AMPLO. He grew up between Lisbon and Madeira island. Valter did his studies at the University Lusíada of Lisbon and Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia studying under Stefano Boeri and Arrigo Rudi. He is a Registered Architect in Portugal since 2003. After graduating, Valter was invited by Ricardo Bak Gordon to join his team, a collaboration for over 10 years. He also worked for the Pritzker Award Paulo Mendes da Rocha and the Cheil Creative Agency.

Inês Ludovino, co-founding partner of AMPLO. She grew up between Caldas da Rainha and Macau. Inês studied architecture in the University Lusíada of Lisbon studying under Pedro Domingos and Ricardo Bak Gordon. She is a Registered Architect in Portugal since 2003. Before founding AMPLO, she worked for leading architectural offices in Lisbon such as GGLL atelier, Manuel Magalhães and PMarq. She also started the brand ILUD handbags, featured in Serralves Museum and Centro Cultural de Belém.

Partnerships

Sandra Pires grew up in Bragança and studied architecture in the University Lusíada of Porto. She moved to the United States in 2002 with an ICOMOS fellowship and holds a Master in Urban Design from the University of Michigan. She moved to New York in 2006 working for leading architectural offices such as SOM, Gensler, Zurita Architects and MAC Cosmetics Store Design. She is also a partner at 119 Marvila Studio, where she runs a gallery and event space.
